Tea of the month: Chai

Originating in India, the beverage has gained worldwide popularity, becoming a feature in many coffee and tea houses. "Chai" means "tea" in Hindi and the beverage itself is called masala chai. There is not an original recipe for chai, since it varies widely from area to area and from family to family. But some similarities are there. It should be sweet, spicy, and should give you a warm feeling in your chest.

In Praana’s Chai, we have used cinnamon, ginger, cardamom pod, licorice, star anise, vanilla, black pepper and cloves. Our Chai is without tealeaves, only the spices are there to warm you. This means it is caffeine-free, and can easily be enjoyed all day long.

You can also make chai latte by adding a little heated or steamed milk. If you have a “sweet tooth” you can also add some honey in the end as a sweetener.
